Shaun, Dawn, and the girls just returned from a cross-country painting vacation in the Adirondack Park in upstate New York. The Adirondacks are well known for large mountains (by East Coast standards), and the distinct fall foliage featured in the paintings below. They stayed in a small lake house, went on canoeing adventures, and, of course, spent time painting.
Unusual for Shaun and Dawn, these four pieces were painted side by side. The first two were painted on site at the Adirondack Museum and the second two were painted after canoeing to a small island in the middle of Blue Mountain Lake. As a New Yorker who has logged some time hiking and canoeing in the Adirondacks (or the ADKS as we call them), I can say that both Shaun and Dawn's paintings reflect the wild, eastern scenery at its best.
