    A Daily Dose is serving up organic, local fare and healthy breakfast and lunch options. Try a made-on-the-spot smoothie, fresh juice a coffee- made with air roasted coffee beans which offer a hint of caramel flavor. Serving breakfast burritos, salads, sandwiches (also grilled on the panini press), soups and other treats, this is a great option for a quick snack or a hot meal without a long wait. Gluten free, dairy free and organic options available.

    Bonez offers “not so traditional” Mexican food. Popular appetizers like queso flameado (melted cheeses, chorizo and green chilis, served with tortillas and fire) will get your appetite revved up. Next try fresh fish tacos or a quesadilla salad if you want to stay on the lighter side, or go big with the slow roasted Mexican pot roast. The large restaurant also offers an apres ski happy hour from 4-5:30pm in the winter.

    Locally known as “The Brick”, this hot spot takes pizza to new heights. You will find all the classics on the menu, plus special flavor combinations like the Spicy Cuban (olive oil & whole grain mustard  pulled pork, canadian bacon, swiss, sriracha and pickles) or the Hot Rasta (garlic olive oil, hot sausage, basil, roasted red pepper, banana pepper, sriracha and pesto). The restaurant also offers wings, burgers, sandwiches, soups, salads and lots of vegetarian items along with around 30 beers on tap and daily pitcher and cocktail specials. Open 10am to 10pm daily.

    With three locations (Crested Butte, Crested Butte South, and Mountaineer Square at Mt. Crested Butte) you can get excellent coffee and pastries no matter what part of town you are in!  All of their coffee is hand roasted in small batches right in Crested Butte. You can order your favorite latte, hot chocolate, or spicy chai (it’s phenomenal) from a friendly barista or buy their coffee in one pound bags and bring the Camp 4 flavor home with you!

    Located in the Historic Silver Queen Hotel, the Coal Creek Grill is right next to the creek (and directly across Elk Avenue from the old Town Hall free shuttle stop). Coal Creek Grill is known for great happy hour specials (like $2 Colorado craft microbrews) and steak house quality food with a casual atmosphere. Apps like brie baked in homemade pretzel bread and the chorizo nachos are fantastic. Popular mains include buffalo stroganoff, trout or a mouth watering steaks. Monday night wings and Taco Tuesdays are big with the locals, and they have live music most Friday and Saturday nights. Coal Creek is now open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and they have one of the best patios in town!

    Small plates are served to perfection in this quaint Elk Avenue restaurant. The crispy brussels sprouts and roasted colorado striped bass are staples on their ever changing menu. Try an herb rubbed lamp loin or some bacon wrapped dates. The owners take great pride in their menu and I guarantee nothing will be disappointing. Make sure to stick around for some equally incredible dessert options!

    Located one block off of Elk Avenue, this swanky cabin serves upscale cocktails with a twist. Try a Beetnik (beet, ginger, lemon-up and vodka) or a Dogwood Margarita (fruit, salted plum, tequila and a wine float served on the rocks).  They also offer beer, cider and wine selections as well as small plates and desserts.

    Feeling like a margarita? How about an enchilada, burrito or relleno?Donita’s has a combination plate so you can satisfy your cravings all at once. This local Mexican restaurant has been offering traditional Mexican dishes for over 30 years at their Crested Butte restaurant. They have room for large groups- capable of hosting up to 50 (or larger with notice) making it a great venue for large parties or weddings.

    The Elk Avenue steakhouse provides a beautiful setting for a night on the town. The upscale restaurant offers a meaty menu that includes USDA prime cuts of beef as well as Colorado lamb, buffalo, elk and trout. They also serve beautiful and tasty salads in addition to rich seafood dishes and hearty vegetarian options. Reservations are recommended.

    “A sunny place for shady people” is their motto and great beer, tasty food and live music is their thing. The Eldo has a full menu of appetizers, burgers (made with all natural grass fed beef), veggie burgers, wraps, sandwiches, soups, salads and other pub fare. Try the local favorite beer battered fish tacos and wash your meal down with one of the many beers on tap or a cocktail while you enjoy live music.     At First Ascent, you can expect delicious locally roasted coffee from 7am to 5pm daily. They are located at the west end of Elk Ave. High quality coffee is imported (Fair Trade) and then roasted at 8,885 feet elevation- right here in town. You can get your caffeine fix or try one of their other yummy drinks. They share the space with Mountain Oven Bakery, which provides the perfect opportunity to grab a breakfast burrito or a pastry to go.

    Lovingly referred to as the “Gasser” by locals, this is your go to spot for a hearty breakfast or lunch. Order a Hurley (english muffin, fried egg, cheese with your choice of meat and a hash brown in the middle), or a “Truck Stop” (roast beef, fried egg, cheese and a hash brown with BBQ sauce on a kaiser roll).  The lunch menu, served after 11:30am offers hot sandwiches like chicken parm, philly or rueben and out of this world burgers. Veggie burgers are also available. Cold sandwiches, salads and sides like jalepeno poppers can also be found on the menu.

    Located just one block from the 4-way stop in Crested Butte, this asian fusion restaurant has a lot to offer. They specialize in Thai and Indian cuisine but also source many of their ingredients (like Colorado lamb) locally. The staples like pad thai, vegetable curry and friend rice are covered, but Ginger also offers an assortment of curries which are sure to please any chili lover. Starters like tandoori chicken wings or thai lavosh are sure to get your meal started off right. A variety of soups, sides, salads and fantastic entrees will leave you (and your taste buds) satisfied.

    Open on Mondays and Wednesday through Sunday, Izzy’s Restaurant serves up delicious breakfast and lunch. The adorable red building is located between 2nd and 3rd street on Elk Avenue and they recently opened “Little Izzy’s” right next door. Locals and visitors give rave reviews on their latkes, pancakes, bagels, cinnamon rolls, crepes, breakfast burritos and fresh pastries. For lunch they offer salads, wraps, and a variety of sandwiches made on fresh baked bread or a latke. They also regularly post a snow report- measured in stacked bagels.

    Established in 1886, Kochevar’s is the oldest bar and gaming hall in Crested Butte. Since its opening it has been the home of many different businesses, but today it is one of Crested Butte’s most popular bars. Enjoy a cold beer while you indulge in classic bar games like pool and shuffle board and make sure you check out some of the antiques from days past. Happy hour runs from 2pm-7pm daily and Rueben’s New Mexican Restaurant is now serving up great eats for hungry bar patrons.

    One of the most well known restaurants on Elk Avenue, The Last Steep is a go to spot for hungry locals and visitors. An eclectic menu includes jerk chicken dip, crab cakes, cajun chicken pasta, fish tacos, and creative sandwiches and burgers. The Ryder burger is a local favorite  served with a slab of cream cheese, jalapeños and a teriyaki marinated pineapple ring. The food is fantastic, but The Steep is also one of the best places in town for a drink. Their build your own Bloody Mary bar is award winning and available on Saturdays and Sundays from 11-4. The venue is small and The Steep is a very popular place, so leave yourself plenty of time for getting a table… it’s worth the wait!

    Open at 5:30pm Monday through Saturday, Le Bosquet has been a great option for a classic french food restaurant in the Crested Butte area since 1976. Feel free to indulge in cheese fondue and work your way up to something more substantial. Steak frites, rack of lamb and seared duck breast are just a few of the delicious entree options, all prepared in classic french style. A kids menu and twilight menu are also available. They offer an extensive award winning wine menu, nightly specials and the baked french onion soup is délicieuse!

    A top notch sushi spot, Lil’s restaurant offers fresh, never frozen, quality fish, which is flown in to Crested Butte six days a week. Their exquisite sushi creations are not only extremely fresh, but each dish is as beautiful as it is tasty. Looking for something more? Enjoy a something from the Robata menu (a traditional Japanese grilling style) or one of many carefully prepared entrees. Entrees include filet mignon, colorado lamb chops, rocky mountain trout, miso salmon, a variety of entree salads or monster crab legs. They also have a killer happy hour nightly from 5:30 to 6:30 with great drink and sushi prices.

    Just one half block off of Elk Avenue, Marchitelli’s Gourmet Noodle is a classic Italian dining experience. Bruschetta, stuffed mushrooms and  fried calamari are just a few of the available appetizers. For your entree try elk scaloppine, veal pizzaiola or seafood lasagna. You can also build your own meal by choosing your favorite pasta and sauce combination and top it off with a meatball, chicken or shrimp. Make sure to check out the extensive wine menu and beer selections to round out the experience at this local favorite Italian restaurant.

    On Elk Avenue, this is one of the busiest breakfast restaurants in town. Meaty breakfast burritos, fluffy pancakes, and scrumptious eggs benedicts fill the menu alongside cheesy omelets, stuffed french toast and biscuits and gravy. Sandwiches, soups and salads are offered to hungry lunch patrons who are looking for an affordable and scrumptious meal. If you are headed in for breakfast or brunch, be sure to get there early or be prepared for a wait.

    Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, this pizza joint is a step ahead of the rest. It is located on 3rd and Whiterock avenue. The breakfast sandwiches and burritos are top notch for a quick meal in the morning. For lunch, salads include garden, chef, caesar, greek and caprese. Crankin’ sandwiches include meatball sub, chicken parm, artichoke spinach chicken and more. There are meatless options like the veggie muffuletta and caprese. Mikey’s is the real deal when it comes to pizza. Their perfect pies are piled high with meats, veggies and cheeses. Calzones, pizza rolls, pasta and desserts can also be found on their extensive menu.

    Located in the Red Room (below the Secret Stash restaurant) in the winter and outside of Mumbuy’s (at 4th and Elk Ave) in the summer, Momo’s brings the Himalayas to Crested Butte. Open from 11am-3:30pm, Karma “The Momo Man” serves up traditional Indian and Himalayan food for your dining delight. Menu items include homemade dumplings, beef curry, dahl baht and more.

    Montanya’s is a tasting room for their house made rum, and they also serve up scrumptious eats. A new summer menu includes the Kokomo (think pi) and the Señorita (habanero and pineapple infused rum, fresh cilantro, agave and lime). Also try the time tested combinations like the Fiery Passion (habanero and pineapple infused rum with passion fruit, mint and lime) or the always popular Maharaja (Oro rum, North Indian spices, ginger, lime and cardamom). Enjoy small plates like the creamy crab and sausage dip, filet mignon tips, and sumac crusted scallops while you try rum that is distilled upstairs. Montanya’s is a MUST on any trip to Crested Butte.

    Located in a renovated historic miners cabin on Elk Avenue, the Mountain Oven Bakery offers organic breakfast and lunch as well as traditional pastries and fresh made breads. They source organic and local (whenever possible) and they stone-grind their whole grain flours in-house to provide wholesome, nourishing and nutritious products. You will also find their breads in many other local restaurants. Grab a coffee while you’re at it. They share The Guild Cafe with First Ascent Coffee Roasters.

    Open daily from 7am-9pm, mini donuts are made fresh and served warm. The classic toppings like cinnamon and sugar or homemade glaze are delicious. Gourmet toppings including chocolate sauces, sprinkles, graham crackers and candies can be added to make your donuts exactly how you like them. Ice cream shakes and malts are also served by friendly staff at this fifties diner style donut spot.

    Crested Butte’s newest dining option, as the name implies is “Off Elk”, instead this biscuit and BBQ joint is located just north of the 4-way stop on 6th. Currently open for breakfast, lunch and apres, Off Elk is serving biscuits, beer and BBQ in their large, open dining room or on the patio.

    Paradise is open for breakfast and lunch. You will find everything from omelettes and benedicts to french toast. The Buckwheat Virgina pancakes, made with a variety or nuts and seeds in the batter get rave reviews. They also have a full bar, serving classic morning cocktails like mimosas and bloody marys as well as adult milkshakes. Located next to the Bank of the West, you will find a sizable crowd here, especially for weekend brunch. The restaurant patio is open for dining amongst the aspens in the Summer.

    Open daily from 11am to 9pm, Pitas in Paradise provides Crested Butte with a taste of the Mediterranean. The casual restaurant offers appetizers like hummus (made fresh daily) and pita nachos. You can enjoy a Greek, Caesar, or tahini salad or a grilled cheese (on pita) with your choice of soup from the soup bar. A variety of flavor filled pitas are available, including the traditional Gyro or get a rice bowl filled with your choice of Thai or Indian ingredients and flavors. You can also get a good ol’ American burger and fries if you prefer. Be sure to top off your meal with a homemade baklava or milkshake.

    Don’t be fooled by the name, the Princess Wine Bar is also a coffee and tea shop as well as a furniture store! They offer a cozy place to hang out with great service and a good selection of wines, coffees and teas. They also serve tapas and often offer happy hour specials with discounted wine by the glass or tapas. In the summer, their beautiful garden is the perfect place to hang out and enjoy a beverage of your choice.

    Located downstairs from the Secret Stash, this is one of Crested Butte’s newer bars. The lounge is decorated in rich deep tones, providing ambiance and a funky setting for a date, a night with friends or a round of pool with your best buds. Hang out with friends in comfy chairs or choose a more private booth. Order your favorite drink at the full bar and pair it with some Secret Stash pizza. The Red Room is also a perfect spot for hosting a group event. Group reservations can be made on their website.

    Looking for something to satisfy that sweet tooth? A chocolate lovers dream, this shop has everything from individual chocolates, caramels and truffles to heavenly caramel apples- topped with almost anything you can imagine. Chocolate dipped strawberries, pretzels, and potato chips are offered for your delight. Salty peanut butter buckets, crunchy nut clusters and rich fudge are also readily available. If you are looking to treat yourself, get something sweet for your sweetie or stock up on gifts for the chocoholic family, this is your best bet for a cocoa filled experience.

    Ruben’s New Mexican Restaurant recently moved from Crested Butte South and is now located next door to Kochevar’s. Rueben’s brings the chili filled taste of New Mexico to the mountains with their burritos, tacos, rellenos and other classics. The owner, Al, keeps his menu authentic by getting both red and green chilies from New Mexico (from Espagnola and Limiter respectively).

    Connected to Townie Books, Rumors is a full service espresso bar. They offer a variety of coffees, loose leaf teas and more. Founded in 2009, this is a great “hang out” where you can browse the selection of books next door or use the free wifi while you enjoy your favorite latte, cocoa or hot apple cider.

    Serving a range of asian dishes, this bistro in the mountains is one to add to your Crested Butte culinary bucket list. The riverside dining room is beautifully designed with large doors that open up to provide fresh air and a view! The menu is extensive as this asian inspired restaurant, filled with creative apps, classic soups and unique greens like the grilled duck salad. Fill up on an entree such as thai peanut chicken, pork katsu, drunken noodle, yushan eggplant or basil duck. The full bar is stocked with saki and Japanese beers in addition to all the traditional options.

    Voted Crested Butte’s Best Pizza and Wings since 2002, the Stash is a go to spot for a slice at lunch or a great dinner. The pizza at this Elk Avenue restaurant will blow your mind. Try an award winning Notorious F.I.G. (mozzarella, bleu & asiago cheeses, thinly sliced prosciutto, dried black mission figs and a truffle oil drizzle) or the Mac Daddy (Thousand island dressing, mozzarella, shaved rib-eye, onions, american & cheddar cheese, topped with cool lettuce, pickles, on a sesame seed crust) or Kyleena’s Meatball Pie inspired by the owner. The salads and appetizers are great too and there’s a kids menu for the little tikes and don’t forget an order of wings.

    Serving Nepalese, Tibetan and Indian food, the Sherpa Cafe is simple and quaint. The owner is an experienced Everest climber and former sherpa and the family owned restaurant offers a comfortable, homey space to enjoy a good meal. The menu includes curries, chicken tikka and saag as well as many other healthy and great tasting options. If you can’t decide what to order, try the combination plate and get a sample of several items served with naan.

As one of the few places that stays open late, it’s a great option for pool, giant jenga or dj music. Get your mountain mingle on here.

    Teo is home to the BEST burritos around. If you’re feeling adventurous, try the Teocalli Thai burrito with carrots, scallions, snow peas, ginger and peanut sauce. If you like green chile or pesto, combine them in the Green Chile Pesto burrito and be prepared for perfect marriage of sweetness and spice. You can stick to the basics with a chicken, steak, shredded beef or veggie burrito or try a taco or tamale. If you are really nice to the staff, they may let you order off menu (get a double decker taco with guac as your glue). There are bottled beers in the fridge or get a made-to-order marg. Hungry on a powder day? You’ll have to wait for the staff to get back from the mountain as the restaurant is closed on big snow mornings until noon.

Third bowl also offers fresh homemade donuts for your sweet tooth satisfaction.

    The Wooden Nickel is housed in a 1929 mining era building. The Nickel has a fantastic menu with appetizer options ranging from beer battered onion rings to smoked trout or steak tartare.     These two businesses share a space next to Christy Sports. In the morning the Bakery is a quick option for a pastry or burrito to go. For lunch they make a mean (and VERY cheesy) pizza or if you wait to hit the pizza counter until after 3pm, you can get pizza slices and many of the remaining baked goods for $1. The Brown Labrador runs the bar. Enjoy daily specials at the bar or hang out on the patio and people watch while you enjoy a cold one.

You can order your favorite latte, hot chocolate, or spicy chai (it’s phenomenal) from a friendly barista or buy coffee in one pound bags and bring the Camp 4 flavor home with you.

    Located at the bottom of the Paradise Lift, this is a perfect spot for lunch between runs. Open during ski season from 11-3, you can enjoy hot soup in a bread bowl, wraps, burgers and sandwiches, pasta or Hawaiin style ribs at the mid mountain restaurant. Beer and wine is available. They also offer a kids menu and Paradise has a huge patio for soaking up that Colorado sun.

    Located mid mountain at the base of the Twister Lift, Uleys is a classier alternative to burgers and nachos. The mid mountain restaurant offers a more sophisticated french inspired menu with items like P.I.E muscles, wild game charcutcherie, salmon filet and risotto. Soups and a meat and cheese selection can be found on the deck menu for those at the Ice Bar or patio. Uley’s Cabin also hosts the sleigh ride  dinner, serving a five course meal Wednesdays through Sundays.

    The Woodstone restaurant located inside the Grand Lodge. They are open for a breakfast buffet in the morning and then again for apres ski and dinner. The menu includes wood fired pizza, pasta and grille items in addition to appetizers, soups and salads. This restaurant is extremely convenient for Grand Lodge guests, but can be easily accessed by anyone as it is just steps from the bus stop at Mountaineer Square.

Crested Butte South

    Tully’s is one of the only options for dining in Crested Butte South. Rural Crested Butte

    The country club is a great place to golf, but they also provide a great dining experience. The restaurant at the Club is open from Memorial Day to Labor Day. They offer lunch daily and a Sunday brunch. Special dining events happen throughout the year and all options are open to the public.

Almont

    The Almont resort is located on highway 135 about half way between Gunnison and Crested Butte. The restaurant and bar are affordable options for delicious food at affordable prices. Soups, salads, burgers, wings and nachos are tasty bar options or sit in the restaurant for more sophisticated food. In the summer, you can dine by the river outside. They also have a fish fry on Fridays that is worth checking out!

Gunnison

    If you’re looking for great BBQ, this is one of your only options. 5Bs offers a restaurant for the casual diner as well as extensive catering packages for events of any size. You’ll find hickory smoked meats, pulled pork and an array of sides at this local barbecue restaurant.

    This small restaurant and bar doesn’t look fancy from the outside, but the food gets great reviews. They make their own tortillas in house and have some fantastic authentic Mexican dishes like adobado tacos.

    Open daily, The Bean is located on Main Street in Gunnison. The restaurant is committed to using local, organic ingredients when possible and use fair trade coffees. The menu goes well beyond coffee with a variety of juices, smoothies and shakes in addition to breakfast (burritos, bagels, crepes and cereals) and lunch (salads and sandwiches) options. Vegan, gluten free and organic items are available.

Reviews of the hot and sour soup, Empress chicken and anything with the garlic sauce are all positive. Prices are affordable and portions are generous.

    This small Mexican restaurant on Tomichi Ave is open daily. Fresh chips and salsa, margaritas, beer and Mexican favorites fill the menu. For dessert try a sapopilla or fried ice cream.

    At Mario’s everything is made from scratch. Their pizza is awesome, but they also have fantastic house specialties like nine-layer lasagna, four cheese ravioli, and sausage or chicken cacciatore. The family owned Italian restaurant has been operating in Gunnison since 1965 and is a staple in the community. They even have a community dinner every second Tuesday of the month.

    The McDonalds franchise has been serving burger lovers since 1955. The fast food restaurant giant is well known for their Big Macs, quarter pounders, chicken McNuggets and signature fries. You can also get breakfast, salads and ice cream on any McDonalds menu.

Made to order sandwiches and appetizers are great any time of the day.
