Senior Property Homestead Exemption Information In June 2009, the Colorado General Assembly passed legislation eliminating funding for the Senior Citizen Property Tax Exemption for tax year 2009 (for taxes payable in 2010). Unless the general Assembly makes further changes to statute, the Senior Citizen Property Tax Exemption is scheduled to return for tax year 2010 (for taxes payable in 2011). The Disabled Veteran Exemption was not affected by the 2009 legislation. Applications must be filed no later than July 15!! 2. Title to the property is held in a trust solely for real estate planning purposes. 3. Title to the property is held in a corporate partnership or other legal entity solely for real estate planning purposes. 4. The qualifying senior, spouse or surviving spouse is/was confined to a hospital, nursing home, or assisted living facility. 5. The prior home was condemned in an eminent domain proceeding by a government entity, or it was sold to a governmental entity upon threat of condemnation by eminent domain.
